Dark Chocolate Ice Cream

Dark Chocolate Ice Cream is BY far my favorite ice cream. I love dark chocolate anything. This is the first recipe we’ve tried for dark chocolate and it was really good! We served this at a friend’s house when asked to bring dessert. Our friend had THREE bowls of it and at least once with each bowl said it was the best chocolate ice cream he’s ever had, which I’ll take as a true compliment because he’s our ice cream connoisseur. He loves the stuff. This is definitely a keeper!

Dark Chocolate Ice Cream

1 c. Dutch processed Dark cocoa powder
2/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. whole milk
3 1/4 c. heavy cream
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Place cocoa and sugars in a medium bowl; stir to combine. Add whole milk and whisk to combine until the cocoa and sugars are dissolved (about 2 minutes). Stir in heavy cream and vanilla. (Refridgerate if not using immediately).

Put mixture into ice cream maker per directions provided with your machine. When the ice cream is very thick, but still soft(~ 25 minutes; varies depending on your ice cream maker). Transfer the ice cream to a covered container and place in the freezer until completely frozen.

Thank you for sharing this recipe, although I didn’t have dark cocoa I used regular and this was awesome. I am normally not a chocolate ice cream person but this one I was. I will be trying it again with the dark cocoa.

I made this recipe using regular cocoa. I added 1 jar of raspberry preserves and 1 bag of frozen raspberries at the end to make the best chocolate raspberry ice cream I have ever tasted. Love this recipe also b/c it has not got any eggs.
