I’m posting this for a friend who recently said that she wishes she could eat at our house every night… well, not every night. Monday night I prepared my planned pasta with a creamy vodka herb sauce. Sounds delicious right? I had this great plan to post the entry for valentines day because I found this super cute pasta at World Market.

Well it turned out to be the worst recipe I’ve tried in a long time. Ok, I shouldn’t say that cause the recipe is probably fine if you like tarragon. Apparently I had never had tarragon or I certainly didn’t remember ever having it. We quickly discovered that while this dish looked awfully tasty… we really didn’t like tarragon. I had no idea it had such a dominating flavor and a very unique flavor at that. I mean, we each took two bites and went to the kitchen to see what else we could fix (and black bean nachos it was)!

So… I thought for once I’d blog about the failures that happen in my kitchen on occasion. They’re not all winners, and they’re not all blogworthy. But the ones I do post about, I hope you enjoy as much as we do! I’ll give tarragon another shot some time again in the future… and I’ll know to use it sparingly. But for now, I have no intention of eating tarragon in anything in the near future!
Its a good thing I didn’t make this pasta ON valentine’s day!
I probably would have ended up in tears… this is also a nice reminder to myself to be careful about trying new recipes on company… you never know when a recipe might go wrong!

What a shame – those cute pasta shapes deserved something special! Still, I know what you mean about tarragon – it’s pretty full on, and very distinctive. I like a hint of it once in a very blue moon, but that’s quite enough… Certainly can’t really imagine having it in a pasta sauce.
Those pasta are too cute! Too bad about the taragon…
Haha! I learned a little while back that I don’t like tarragon either. My husband does, but it si a very strong flavor. Glad to know I’m not the only one!
hahaha, thanks for letting us know this recipe isn’t a keeper! i’m not sure if i have ever had tarragon either?
Do you know how much I LOVE you for making heart shaped cheesy pasta???!! I’m so sorry it didn’t turn out, but I am so happy you made this. It’s too funny.
Katie, I can’t help myself. I’m a cheese-ball to the core =)
Tarragon has a unique flavor, that’s for sure! I actually like to add it to my red wine vinegar. Not sure how I’d feel about it on pasta though…..that pasta is TOO cute!!
