I can not remember a single time growing up that my mom made any sort of beef stir fry. The only Chinese style beef I can remember eating was stew meat (and I desperately need to learn how she made it cause its so good as a base for beef noodle soup which i’ve been craving!). Hubby loves beef though, so I thought I’d try my hand at making him a beef dish
It was pretty tasty! I’ll definitely be making it more frequently! It was particularly easy since I can buy the meat precut at our local oriental market.
Sesame Beef
Serves 2
1/2-pound boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced into 1-inch strips
2 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp cornstarch
1 clove garlic, minced
4 scallion greens, cut diagonally into 1-inch slices
2 Tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
salt & pepper
In a bowl whisk together soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oil, honey, and mustard. Add steak, tossing to coat, and let marinate, refrigerated, for 1-2 hours.
In a heavy skillet or wok, heat remaining tablespoon oil over moderately high heat until hot and sauté garlic until aromatic. Add steak and cornstarch, stirring, until browned 2-3 minutes. Stir in scallions, sesame seeds, and salt and pepper to taste and heat until just heated through. Serve immediately.

Mmm, I love Sesame Beef. I am starring this one!
I used to make this when I lived at home. It was my “specialty.”
