Ally's Cookies

I have no idea who Ally is. I know I got this recipe from my Grandmother who got it from my Great Aunt Nona, who I guess got it from someone named Ally? Whoever Ally is!

This recipe is a definitely a favorite. They remind me of Christmas cause it the only time I remember ever eating them growing up. I got the recipe from my Grandmother in high school and have been making them basically every year since. Everyone always raves about them and I love it that they’re so simple.

The catch? They’re nothing unique. I thought they were but I’ve been like Phoebe from Friends. You know the episode where she discovers her Grandmother’s secret chocolate chip cookie recipe is actually the recipe from the back of the Nestle Tollhouse bag?! haha. That’s what I feel like. I remember when I first started food blogging over two years ago and I saw these popping up all over the blogosphere! Oh how sad I was. But it doesn’t change the fact that they’re simple & tasty!

So you may call the Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies, but these will always be Ally’s Cookies to me!

Ally’s Cookies (aka Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies)

2 c granulated sugar
4 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 stick butter
1/2 c milk
1 c peanut butter
1 Tbsp vanilla
3 c quick oats

In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. Remove from heat. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened.

We have been making these cookies since I was a little girl. They were always one of my favorites, and now my daughter LOVES them too and makes them often and her name is Allie, so we are now going to rename our No Bake Cookies, Ally’s Cookies in honor of your Grandma and our daughter!

Thanks for posting this. I remember making these in the 1960′s when I was in my teens, got the recipe from a comic book about a career girl character named Katie Keene, they were called “Katie Keene Cookies” and were a great favourite in my family. I am delighted to have the recipe again.
