I love pecans. All things pecan. They are so fabulously delicious. Pecan pie is one of the only pies I truly love. I mean, I’m Texan… it can’t be helped. I mean its un-Texan to not like pecans, right?!
For thanksgiving I was looking for something different to make for dessert and decided on pecan tassies. I’ve seen where some people have referred to them as cookies, but these are not remotely cookie like to me. They really were quite like mini-pecan pies! The crust was creamier than real pie crust but the filling was exactly like pecan pie. It created that sugary layer that’s topped by pecans… deliciousness! I prepared them using a mini-muffin pan (which is was definitely far more time intensive than I had anticipated. But we all loved these little pecan goodies. They were perfect! I’m looking forward to making another batch in a few weeks to take to work. Try them. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them as much as we did!
Pecan Tassies
2 c butter, softened
1 1/2 (12 ounces total) packages cream cheese, softened
4 c all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
2 1/2 c packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1 1/2 c chopped pecans
Preheat the oven to 350°. Mix together 2 cups butter and cream cheese until well blended. Beat in flour, 1 cup at a time, until the mixture forms a dough. Roll into small balls, and press into the bottoms and sides of tart pans or mini muffin pans, making sure to get it as smooth and even as you can.
In another bowl, mix together the eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Stir in the pecans. Fill each of the crusts 2/3 full with the mixture.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes in the preheated oven, until shell is light brown, and the filling has puffed up a bit. Cool, and carefully remove from pans.

These look delicious! I love anything with pecans!
These are my very favorite treats for sentimental reasons. It’s the only dessert my mom really cooked that wasn’t ethnic… and has always been a favorite from my childhood.
These looks so cute and tasty. The cream cheese in the pastry must make a great crust.
Those look delicious!!
My family always makes pecan tassies at the holidays. The dough is easiest to work with when it is cold. We usually have an assembly line of people to put them together. One person shapes the dough into balls and put them in the muffin tin. One person spreads the dough and one person fills them. The odd thing is that I don’t particularly like pecan pie bc of the sugar overload but the cookies are a perfect amount of sugar sweet, nuts and crust.
Oh wow, these look and sound so good. I bet the use of the cream cheese just puts them over the top. I have to go to the grocery store today so I might just have to pick up the ingredients for this!!

I’ve never made pecan tassies, but I never really cared for pecans up until a few years ago. These would be a fabulous holiday treat!
