About

Hello & Welcome to Delish!

I’m Ashley, I’m a twenty-something wife, mommy and food enthusiast. I started blogging about food in November 2006. It started out as a tiny effort (with a different blog name) to share recipes with a couple friends who wanted to learn to cook… and its simply grown from there.

I’m a self-taught home cook who is constantly trying to find a balance between my love of food, the ever growing waist line that is the result of having a food blog, and the likes & dislikes of my “meat and potatoes” husband. I hope this blog brings you a bit of inspiration as many other bloggers have inspired me to run off into the kitchen and experiment!

About Me

I am born and raised Texan. In 2006, I married my high-school sweetheart. Lucky for me, he loves food too. We’re the primary taste testers around here. In May 2011, we brought a little foodie into the world. Being a mom is wonderful! Some of my favorite things other than my family & food:

  • God (I’m blessed with a truly wonderful life)
  • Spending time with our friends and family
  • Macy (check out the the recipes dedicated to the four legged kind)
  • Crafting & Decorating (when I have the time)
  • Chocolate

The Food
My inspiration comes from a lot of places. Like I said, I’m a born and raised Texan so I grew up on good Tex-Mex and southern food. My mom is Chinese, so of course I have a deep love for home-style Chinese food (trust me that stuff you get at most “Chinese” restaurants is nothing like the real stuff). But I enjoy all kinds of food!

All of the recipes on this site have been tested by me, typically more than once. Many of the recipes have been created right in my kitchen, some come from my cookbooks (some adaptations), and some are recipes I’ve found on food sites and other blogs. I always site my sources (if no source is listed, its something I cooked up on my own)! You can find a full list of my recipes by checking out my Recipe Index.

Products & Giveaways
Occasionally, I may blog about a product. I am never paid to blog about these products. I do accept free products from companies (this is the extent to how I am “paid”), however I do so under the terms that I am not required to blog about them (and trust me there have been a few that weren’t blog-worthy). I never endorse a product on my blog that I wouldn’t tell my friends & family to purchase. Have a product you think I may be interested in or that may readers may be interested in? Contact me via email.

Comments & Contact
My blog is a hobby. :-) I try to ensure there are no typos, errors, omissions or broken links. But I have a full time job, a family, and other hobbies so it wouldn’t be unfounded for there to be a mistake, or two, or three on the site. :-) Please feel free to contact me if you notice anything! I am always looking for ways to improve my site; if you have any ideas or suggestions, I’d love to hear from you! Comments are always welcome, however any outwardly rude/mean comments will not be approved. Hey, its my blog – I can do that :-) The best part of blogging is being part of a great community, so I’d love to hear from you!! You can reach me one of the following ways:

I just had to laugh a little at this – I just came across your blog today and looking at the first paragraph of your bio, it could be MY bio (except my blog started in August 2006)…I can’t wait to try some of your recipes!

Sincerely,
Another twenty-something wife and food enthusiast named Ashley ;)

I was born and raised in College Station, I actually recently graduated (May 2007) from Consol and left for Austin. I’ve always been a foodie and I’ve recently began food blogging and applying myself to become a food writer. So just wanted to say one fellow Cstat foodie to another. What are your favourite restaurants around town?

great blog, although I must say I’m surprised you don’t have Julia Child’s cookbooks! I’m sure you’ve seen the movie by now ;)

I absolutely adore your blog! These are recipes even my picky husband would eat and they are not so frou frou that I have to spend extra money on specialty ingredients. Keep up the good work!

I made the Lemon Ricotta cookies today, and they are some of the best I have ever had! I haven’t had cookies this soft, maybe, ever? I even sent the recipe to my best friend! Tomorrow, I’m bringing them to work! I know they will love them… thanks for sharing your recipes!
